The Story so Far…
Welcome to the very first official blog post of TwoDog Adventures.
In truth, we began living the RV lifestyle for about a year now.
I’m behind on the story (my apologies to the reading audience)…but as you will see–we have been busy.
Here’s the brain dump…
Following the death of my mother (and getting myself spectacularly fired from my cushy IT job) I was faced with a choice.
Go back to what I know: A career I don’t like, that pays the bills, but ultimately makes me sad…
OR go *forward* to something new.
It’s a choice that we are all eventually going to make at least once in our lives.
If you are reading this, maybe you are up against that choice yourself.
For reasons that you will read about (over and over until you are SICK of them), I took the path less traveled. I would exit the rat race and head into the wilderness.
Into the wilderness….are you kidding?
In my youth, I embraced adventure travel. Singing for my supper and sleeping rough was a great way to see the world when you were 20, but At 49 years old (and over 300 lbs) I was no longer Indiana Jones. Or even Tom Jones.
(Be warned: The Boy Scouts all laugh and point, when the paramedics have to helicopter your fat ass out of the desert. Little bastards….)
But the decision was inevitable. October 15th 2016, I pulled up roots from my sticks and bricks rental dwelling in northern Colorado, and hit the road.
Life was about seeking out the extraordinary–and before I died I would live on the road again, and drink in the marvelous chaos of the human species.
I liquidated everything and abandoned the rat race. Bought the rig, the truck, and the gear for the big life change–from IT professional to….are you ready?
Treasure Hunter.
Yep.
FYI: Fastest way to lose all credibility with your girlfriend’s parents…
“So…Dave, my daughter sure seems to be fond of you. What do you do for a living?”
“I’m a treasure hunter. I live in a trailer–currently in the Wal-Mart Parking lot. Yes sir, Mr. S, it’s a love story!”
They weep at night.
But that aside, the transition to RV life has been an adventure. Come share it with us. 🙂
